Anyone know how to actually download all the albums you have access to?

There's not like a "download all" button...

EDIT: Whoops, missed the extension suggestion in the actual article. RTFL...

>Can I participate in the Counter-Strike 2 Limited Test on Linux or macOS? [1]

No. The Counter-Strike 2 Limited Test is only available on Windows.

I'm sure this will change with an official release though.

Wouldn't Proton let you run the Windows version?

Honestly, and I'm not sure of the technical specifications, but the screen is so bright that I really never notice the reflections unless I'm in the absolute worst conditions- where I probably shouldn't be running my laptop outside in direct sunlight.

It's an interesting issue, because I have the same feelings about the recent launch of the SteamDeck. The highest priced model has an etched mat screen and the lower models have a reflective one. I'd say that it's far more noticeable in the steamdeck than it is on my macbook screen, even though they look very similar.

My guess is the adaptive brightness and sensors are very well tuned.

I see a lot of articles that quote the cost for hacking a product or service. I feel like these type of titles undermine the effort that took place. Surely the lab Wouters used had tools and processes that aren't cheap, nor would you consider his expertise inexpensive.

I'm not impressed by a PCB board being cheap. Does anyone else feel this way about similar headlines?

Price is a factor for how accessible the hack is. If it requires an expensive FGPA or a lot of AWS time to crack then that makes it less appealing.

Exactly. For me it's about the replicability of the attack. Is it restricted to government-sized organizations? Or can anybody with the skills do it?

Interestingly, either H/N changed the submission title, or the article itself changed their title to reflect the content of the article better. Is there a way I can check which happened in the last few hours?

I think the point is that anyone with $25 can hack Starlink once the script or instructions are published online. Information costs almost nothing to publish/ share so it's the cost of the hardware that matters.

"You wouldn't download a satellite uplink would you?"

Uh, yep thats exactly what I want to do :-)

"Twitter hack compromising 5.4 million accounts accomplished using $12 keyboard"

Gods that one had no self respect! You cannot properly hack on any keyboard that isn't mechanical and worth at least $200!

It’s just low grade journalism trying to inflate the impact of the bug.

Conspicuously missing is the cost of the equipment in the lab where he developed the first prototype.

I think it's useful to differentiate between attacks anyone can do with common hardware and things like smartcard attacks that you can only do with access to an electron microscope.

Yes and no. Is the $25 increasingly irrelevant. Sure. Is it clickbait-y, yes. Does it matter because it might make it more widespread, it probably still does.

Absolutely. This modchip is just a raspberry pi plus a couple parts. You'd have to try hard to get it to be expensive. The BOM for most embedded systems is going to be cheap unless you need some exotic hardware. It really does seem to ignore the amount of time this guy spent to get to figure out what parts he needed and where to solder them. If it was developed by a company instead of an individual, you can bet it wouldn't have cost "only $25 to develop".

Edit: fixed for clarity of thought

A friend of mine once had the idea to create a zine where the contents were made up of things that we'd find in between the pages of books at Goodwill.

We went to a few different Goodwills around town, and while the idea was exciting- it turned dark quickly when we discovered the research notes of a man who had been diagnosed with cancer. It appeared he was not going to win the battle, and he knew it. Perhaps this was his way of coping, but from the state of the medial book it appeared he did not win the battle. I don't think the zine was ever published.

damn wish that got published, i know some people who would love it.

Pill presses with name-brand impressions are pretty cheaply imported from China these days.

Unfortunately this is a very common way of cutting pills with stronger drugs and stretching products for drug dealers.

Xanex and Percs are often crushed up, then cut with Fentanyl and vitamins to be re-pressed into the original pill form to be sold on the street as a prescription drug.

That would be very dramatic.

voicemeeter for windows is really good, highly recommend.

I think it's especially important to keep in mind that George Floyd is not on trial.

He was alive before his interaction with the police.

Generally police officers are not held responsible for suspects dying from a heart attack during arrest. Either while running away from the police officer, or while resisting arrest.

You could use the same argument against vaccines and say because someone died shortly after receiving a vaccine that vaccines kill people. It’s the same with this police interaction, given the amount of police interactions and often the nature of the interactions, drug related, it is a statistical certainty that a death with occur during the interaction. Coincidence does happen, it isn’t a myth. Did his interaction trigger anxiety in the individual that made issues more likely, of course, but that is the risk you have to deal with when you are committing crimes and doing drugs.
