I'm glad you brought this up. CAN-SPAM covers all commercial messages and "any electronic mail message the primary purpose of which is the commercial advertisement or promotion of a commercial product or service"

Footrr Ads are not the primary purpose the email. They are supplemental material inside an email, and are not commercial emails (because it's one person emailing another person).

A lot of people are saying this is a bad move because insert reason that contradicts YouTube's existence. But consider Tumblr's sale to Yahoo! and nothing changed. Google bought YouTube when Google has 1% of the internet traffic. YouTube already had 6% [2006] (and is the worlds most popular site per unique visitors).

To be honest, I'm surprised MSFT didn't try to buy them first.

I created a social network called Unadu. It gave the users a voice, along with every other current aspect of online networking. It gained a little traction in my area with only a few hundred users over a 4 month span. Over the last 3 weeks there was virtually no activity. When you fail, fail fast right? So I retired the network and immediately went on to working on the next project. I learned a lot; mostly where my strengths and weaknesses area.

I don't speak binary very well, so correct me if I'm wrong on this subject. If a number that represents illegal information is formed, that number is illegal. What if there is a larger number that has the illegal number in it? Example: 10 is illegal. 1000 has the number ten in it. The "10" can be filtered out.. How would this be handled?

What truly matter is intent. If you are trying to convey the illegal number, you are trying to break the law. If you accidentally transmit the bits that form the number while transmitting something else, you are not culpable.

As far as design goes: HN has a very simple design and I find it a lot less distracting than more responsive designs.

Now to be honest.. Facebook's platform is so open and easy to get information from people and their friends, that a typical web developer could create an App that requires the user's email address upon signing in via Facebook Connect. Upon successful connection, the developer could write a script to save that email address and post some article about the user using his/her real name. This could get the users attention, attracting their friends. Once they sign in, however, the script will store their email address as well. How long will this work for? Until Facebook denies the rights to your application.

If you want to make $5, sell that list to this guy.. again. haha.

Keeping an open mind is always great. However, being unable to focus on one task and become superior at it is quickly becoming an issue. Today, if I remember correctly, the average attention span is only 8 seconds. Remember: Jack of all trades is the master of none.
