The story does not add up. What kind of person decides to go on a "beach walk" after finding documents that says their husband is worth 300M dollars? My reaction would be to get the document, and at least take a picture, and get the fuck out.
Good argument. People do irrational things. But still, it's smart to assmue that taking pictures of interesting documents never hurts. I'm not worth $10k and already do it regularly.
So? Everyone knows that "Facebook.com" was called "TheFacebook.com" before Sean Parker asked Mark to "drop the 'the' from 'thefacebook.com'." Anyone who watched "The Social Network" knows this.
"vi"[1] is a very influential text editor created in the 1970s (and still used today). This "family tree" show a bunch of other old text editors that directly or indirectly influenced or inspired vi. (For example, George Coulouris's "em" was based on Ken Thompson's "ed". Bill Joy and Chuck Haley's first version of "ex" -- an ancestor of vi -- was based on "em".)
Apple does this too. They just bury it 4 or 5 system levels deep before you can see that they track you everywhere and recognize your home, work, and other frequently visited locations.
I have no proof that it is being used for advertising, but they do still have a copy of everything. Who's to know what their future thoughts about advertising will be. It's their Frequent Locations feature.
On iOS, location tracking is configurable per-app, at least. I can deny the Weather app the use of my location data while allowing the Camera app to access it.
