We do allow car companies to continue to build cars that cannot prevent accidents. Even beyond preventing accidents we as a society also allow the car companies to build cars with varying levels of safety and have a rating system for them.

We do. However, car manufacturers usually try to downplay reports of issues with the cars to the point when they can't do anymore. That's when something like a recall happens, which results in a substantial financial loss for them. Obviously not every affected vehicle owner can or may afford to have their vehicle serviced, so many keep using them despite the risk- like the people who are using social media knowing its weaknesses.

I think social media are at a point when they are forcefully downplaying the social issues which they are actually responsible for. We've already seen state and other actors exploit the social media and cause mass epidemics; anti-vaxx, white nationalism, Rohingya issue etc. to name a few. Let's see how far it goes before the damage is too much.

You can represent that pretty easily with principals. Just make sure that each host has itself listed as a principal and generate keys that contain that same string. It's pretty common to have a set of increasingly general principals (I.e. Hostname, cluster, tier, root@everywhere).

I want to echo the other reply to this post. Crunchyroll offers its customers a way to view the shows as they are released, which was a big change from how anime was normally consumed. Viki works because of the very strong fan subbing community that it has built. From my point of view the best way to compete with Netflix is to find a niche that is hard for them to fill. It's unlikely that Netflix can get people to sub their shows for free. Netflix wasn't designed with the queue type setup that crunchy roll has, etc.

There is a bug in terminal.app that manifests itself when you ssh to remote servers, launch something like tmux, disconnect, and try to resize the window[0]. The bad part for me is that this happens every time I leave my desk (the terminal resizes to the laptop screen size, and my usb ethernet dongle gets disconnected).

While this isn't a guarantee that you'll get updates, you can definitely get a moto g (and a pile of other phones) without any carrier customization now as a "play edition" phone[1].

It's great to see Google doing these Play editions, I didn't realize that it was available for so many devices. https://play.google.com/store/devices/collection/promotion_5...

I'm going to get a Moto G, I was considering it a few days ago even though I don't really need a new phone (Nexus 4 has been dropped, thrown, and ran over a few times, put a screen protector on to hold the glass in place).

While they are not rebranded Filco keyboards they are definitely at or just below the same level of quality as a Filco. They are made by the same OEM, use the same (crappy) material for their keycaps, and are comparable in overall durability. Filco keyboards were semi-infamous for chattering (repeating keys randomly) when they were still sold by Elite Keyboards and there weren't as many other options for mechanical keyboards in the US.

I ordered one of these which came out to $1462.00 before tax.

- 16GB of ram

- 180GB Intel mstata SSD

- 1TB spinning disk

- Upgraded the wireless card

It's as portable of a machine as I can get that will still replace a desktop.

What's the battery life like for these?

They are estimating around 4 hours. I tend to move my laptop around a bunch, but it's just generally from room to room and table to table. So, for my use case, this machine is perfect. If you're a road warrior though... it's realllly hard to beat the 12 hours on the new MBAs.

He was most likely referring to one of the many products that ineffectively use antibiotics instead of antiseptics. One such example is Neosporin.
