this one really annoying

> Got it! Just let me know if you need anything else later.

damn

When life is controlled by algorithms.

They're trying to win back the people they pushed away by only increasing the weekly limit by 50%. I'm like, "What?"

Won't go back, especially since their new Opus 4.7 is such a disaster.

I've been using opus 4.7 on xhigh effort and have been blown away by the results

done the same and I received email from corporate that I'm not allowed to do that :) But it's been great while using it. The only downside was the long wait time for each response.

Why are you not allowed to do that?

Cost

However, they could use it as a last resort or as a final "gift" before getting arrested or switching identities.

They might be considered "trustworthy" right now to get companies to pay them money, but no one will know what will happen in a few years when this strategy won't work anymore.

Anyway, I hope this doesn't come at all, or as late as possible.

> but no one will know what will happen in a few years when this strategy won't work anymore.

Good point.

> Anyway, I hope this doesn't come at all, or as late as possible.

Same. As I said, I find the idea funny in the abstract, if it didn’t affect anyone or if it were a TV show, for example. But since it does affect real people…

> leak state (e.g. UUIDv7)

But according to PostgreSQL, UUIDv7 provides better performance in the database, so is this essentially a trade off between security and speed?

Yes, because UUIDv7 gives up some random bits in order to include the timestamp, which is done in a way that makes UUIDv7s quick to sort by timestamp.

How does including the timestamp expose me to adversarial exploitation?

It reveals the time you created the UUID, for one. That can lead to a bunch of problems.

The same way using an auto increment integer ID does, but imagine that integer also leaked your created timestamp column too.

I’ve not come across any.

Is now a good time to get a upgrade for cpu and motherboard?

Interesting. I'm currently conducting an experiment where I'm writing the blog without using any grammar checking tools. I'm wondering how long it will take for me to become "famous" in the AI model.

Is now the best and easiest time to leave something "forever"? Even after many generations of models, a model may still trigger a set of "memories" that know you and what you wrote.

Exciting and concerning.

Same. They do become famous, but not in a wholly positive way.

I used to think the context of the fame mattered. At least in the US, it does not.

Hell, Crowdstrike is still purchased.

I'm impressed that such a serious problem popped up out of nowhere.

In my opinion, this mostly affects countries that are still using outdated systems, especially critical systems.

This gives bad actors a direct route to the root. Having an easily accessible root is not funny.

I think it's time to visit an Apple Store and try out the Apple ecosystem. I haven't used an Apple device in a long time.

They are shiny. Many aspects feel more 'human', IMO.

If you use ad-blockers, I recommend exploring that use-case with Apple / Safari. It's doable though for me is a bit frustrating.

In fact, I urge creating a list of use-cases before heading out to the store, and cranking through those while at the store. Computers/phones are such a deeply entwined component of modern life it could be a long list.

Passwords, backups, bluetooth compatibility, connecting mass-storage devices to iPad / iPhone, etc.
