August Health | Multiple Engineering Roles | Remote (USA) | Full Time

Our mission is to empower the essential work of caring for our elders. We achieve this by providing a modern operating platform and electronic health record that enables senior living operators to deliver high-quality care with confidence.

Caregivers are the heart of senior living communities, embodying care, compassion, and well-being. Yet, they face increasing challenges—higher resident acuity, complex workflows, and staffing shortages. At August Health, we build tools that simplify their tasks, eliminate inefficiencies, and provide the insights they need to focus on what truly matters—caring for residents.

Our team brings together deep expertise in technology, healthcare, and company-building. We’ve led teams at Apple, Google, Landmark Health, and Adobe, co-founded and exited multiple companies, shipped products used by hundreds of millions of users, and managed clinical teams caring for thousands of patients.

Backed by top-tier Silicon Valley investors, we are partnering with some of the largest senior care organizations in the U.S. to transform the future of senior living. Our team is ~50 employees today.

Given they’ve open sourced the model and their training techniques, shouldn’t it be pretty easy to get an order of magnitude estimate on if their training estimates are in the right ballpark?

Because they refurbished it and it’s back up after 40 years (we didn’t just suddenly communicate with extra terrestrials).

The amount of real engineering that must have gone into a system like this is incredible. They didn't have the benefit of being able to iterate on an existing technology -> this is real hacking.

Having worked on the streets dataset for a FAANG, I'm blown away at the ingenuity here.

These are uncannily on-point. Amazing how the model incorporates mostly unwritten, but often accurate subtext into these outputs.

Gsuite / Google for Work user?

There is a newly enforced limit on (paid!) Google Workspace accounts - you can only share files with non-Google users up to 5 times each calendar month. Note that this doesn't cap external accounts, just those that are non-Google. So want to share with your personal Gmail account - no problem. More than 5 @hotmails - nope!

Only way around is to upgrade to a plan that is double the price.

"Important: If you use a Google Workspace Business Starter or Frontline account, you can share files up to 5 times each calendar month with non-Google accounts. Each time is defined as sharing one document with one visitor."

Not sure who at Google thought this was the right way to upsell business accounts. Also, there is no mention of this limit in any plan description (eg. https://support.google.com/a/answer/6043385).

Feels like a shake-down.

Kinda an odd restriction, considering you can also just create an "anyone with the link can edit" link and then email it to as many people as you like...

I prefer mailing out the link myself anyway - I hate tools that send automated emails to someone on my behalf, when I'd much rather write the email myself. That, and in many workplaces, sending the link via slack is far more convenient - especially when dealing with contractors whose email address is often hard to find.

...for now :)

I went through some of what you’re writing about: start-up, acquisition, handcuffs, sabbatical-mode, and now newco.

Feel free to email me, happy to chat it through.

Thank you! Expect an email in the next day or two. <3

"it was an industry that definitely could use some quality solutions."
