Most of it is true.

I would want to add that our education system does not support/encourage a start-up/business/creative mindset.

Even today, most of the bachelors degree courses are oriented towards teaching for and endorsing high grades (just to qualify for jobs and PG entrance exams) rather than developing critical thinking.

Great work on the look and feel of the portal. Looking forward to read your story on the blog.

Not sure why adsense at my place of work blocks your blog for the reason: Not allowed to browse Anonymizer category.

Agree with most of what you said. Just a note: 'Bhaiyya' is a 'taboo word' (or mildly derogatory, if you prefer) for folks from UP. Source: I am from UP, India.

So is a "Bihari", in most parts of India. I am from Bihar, India. That's why I said it: to emphasize on the classifications we have created and abide by. It's less derogatory than a "chamar" or a "musahar" or a "dom". I am sure there are terms even lower than these.

Taboos hold back.

(1) ebook : business 101 for programmers, (2) a micro start-up, (3) ebook: pickup something new (a hobby) and blog about it and work hard to make the blog sucessful

and get stuck in endless cycle of learning and buying more ebooks

I might be wrong but imo, this problem exists with prepaid connections only. Try a postpaid SIM in your phone and if it works, ponder switching to postpaid.

I had this problem on a Whited00r-installed iPhone 3G with airtel prepaid. Never noticed with iOS 5 or 6 on my iPhone 4S.

Just to add, out of 65,000, few visas are reserved for nationals of Chile(1400) and Singapore(5700) due to free trade agreements. These visas are called H1B1 and if unused, apparently they are added to visa cap for next year. Never heard about any increase in the cap (due to unused Chile/S'pore H1B1s) though.

A great success story. She just mapped her own personality online, and tried to make money out of it - which her company did, boatloads of. Could be a classic example of "look around, and try to solve a problem that you face yourself and people like yourself. that would be a great idea for a startup".

Great job. And thanks for the inspiration. I realize that I will have to fail a multiple times before something great happens.

Q: Would you mind me asking what is your revenue model and how much success you have seen with all the streams ?

By the way, I downloaded your app a few days after the commercial aired, and my kid absolutely loves it. Thanks again.

You definitely don't have to fail before you succeed. But if it happens, just accept it, learn something, and move on.

Do you have it on the iPod or iPad? On the iPad, you'll see a banner ad that spans the bottom of the display. That generates about half of the revenue. The other half comes from In-App Purchases of song packs ($0.99 each, or $2.99 for a full unlock). And about $40 a day comes from LinkShare commissions, which happens when someone links out from my app to an iTunes song, and buys it.

Thanks for your reply. I agree with you and I meant that failures are not really that bad, and mostly help you to learn from mistakes.

Also, what's next for Tiny Piano ? How do you plan to keep it simple and yet add features to keep it relevant for new and old users - both ?

In the immediate future, I think I'll stick with adding new content (more paid song packs and more free songs).

Farther in the future, it might be fun to add a "game" section where users can play short DDR/GuitarHero style games to practice rhythm and possibly learn how to read music.

I upgraded my iPad to iOS 6, and left my iPhone 4S at iOS 5 and compared the navigation results in India. Apple maps were a letdown in this part of the world. I have used iOS 5 Maps application a lot in Northern India and had far better (if not perfect) results. Now finally I can upgrade to iOS6.
