For people who understand neural networks, this is HUGE! I have been dreaming for a custom chip for neural networks for 5 years! If they pull it off and deliver a product launch in a year or two, then they would smoke the competition again.
Fake it until you make it. Backgrounds are all pre-recorded. Not live! But it's an interesting concept once they manage to get all the scenes live. I still prefer face to face though.
I wondered about that dog on the couch... Still, pretty neat (and, come to think of it, a little less worrying than giving Facebook access to a webcam in my house.)
I was disappointed they didn't announce a merging of Chrome OS and Android, and a full-blown "proper" laptop running a local OS to compete with Windows/OSX.
This may sound far-fetched, but given how many apps they have for their platform(s), it would be a good move. I am not keen to buy a Chrome OS laptop (why do I need permanent internet connectivity? microcomputers negated the need for a mainframe...), but one that runs its own local OS that can operate independently of a remote system (like many Android apps that save locally, then sync periodically) would be good.
I know right! I have in my space time actually played around with something similar for this project, and at least for some exhibitions this is something that could be done in the future. Maybe some next incarnation might include this ;)
ps: For full disclosure, I'm one of the Devs that worked on this project though these opinions are completely my own
