Yep, hypocrisy across the board in a policy like this.

what does that mean?

people from the midwest and south are largely not represented in sv companies. sv has done a great job at basically hiring the same type of person over and over. I believe this is mostly because of their preference for a narrow set of universities, among other things.

I spent way too much time in college trying to find the most profound quote from Thoreau or whoever to put at the bottom of my AIM profile.

Also, Steemit is just a terrible name.

I agree and was curious why they picked it. I guess their reasoning is as good as any.

> Steem is a form of esteem, which means to prize or value. Steem is also a homophone for steam, which is frequently associated with power, and a step further, steam powered trains gave influence to English idioms, such as ‘this conversation is picking up steam.’ The associations with prizing, language and empowerment only felt right.

But there is already a very popular service called Steam, so I think I would have kept searching for another name, personally. No reason to risk confusion.

Still, Steem is an infinitely better name than Steemit.

Copycat of Reddit (lol).

Seems like this should be the standard.

This was done be a guest teacher. The author was not the classroom teacher. This means that the students were more curious and interested to begin with. To maintain this type of rigorous style throughout the year would be almost impossible. It could be used more, but not exclusively.

Precisely this. Please don't read this and apply it to every conversation. If the other party is not particularly driven to learn about the topic, you'll turn them off completely.

I would absolutely assume that they will look to collect browsing data.

Everyone who pivots to video to try to drive Facebook traffic seems to come to regret it.

It will eventually become something else or be replaced, but that may take awhile.

Great work!

I don't use it a ton. I prefer Twitter.
