Adam Curtis docs are wonderful. I've grown so accustomed to when people suggest a doc, its some youtuber that posts a doc once a week and utilizes the youtube documentary style to disguise how poorly executed it is. Adam Curtis is certainly not that, for anyone considering this suggestion.

different use cases for different people. some people are nurturing a code base and ensuring it doesnt become a gross mess so they become the bottleneck. some people are just trying to prompt stuff into existence and dont know what sql is.

I think this site often overlooks that second group and how large it likely is.

I've found myself liking opencode for workflows because i can plug GPT models into it, so i tossed 5$ at deepseek api and just toggle back and forth what my opencode.jsonc file is running model wise for my agents. I havent tried anything crazy yet with it, but its nailed all the tasks i felt were overall too simple to waste gpt usage on.

Hardest stuff i threw at it... i did like a set of 3 each for claude/gpt/ds, it was all pretty steady across all providers. I think claude won but it could have just been it rng'd into the 3 easier tasks, they are all similar tasks but not identical, these aren't like benchmark tasks just a steady flow of annoying html/json/regex type stuff. Almost always they need a second pass regardless of what model i throw at it, just to tighten up some loose ends, and it fit right into what my current expectation was of gpt 5.5 and opus 4.6.

Creatine is great regardless, just dont get sold by whatever the nonsense article is pushing if anything. Generic creatine the cheapest you can find is likely your best bet.

I have the same struggles with preworkout, they are just overkill for me and make me crash and i feel they impact my sleep because i usually work out at a random time so the caffeine timing may be terrible. Certainly had success with them for a while, but it was when i didn't really care when i went to sleep because when i was younger I'd just sleep for 8-10 hours straight regardless of time of day/night.

I don't think i fear so much for competing on quality vs a vibe coder, I think two orders of magnitude is underselling the potential snowball effect of a vibe coder attempting to craft up a semi complex project. The sooner they start to pile on complexity, the quicker it is that the 2x gap widens.

The fear for me comes with that initial creation, which is a fear i have across a large amount of things for AI "disruption". Just floods of bad products at rates that are insane, same type of problem that exists on github of just garbage prs, and same thing for any reddit/twitter/even hn type comment thread.

Just another layer of Sturgeon's Law?

- 90% of everything is vibe-coded crap

- 90% of what isn't vibe-coded crap is also crap

ergo, the small percentage which is left is not crap.

Looking forward to not being able to even try it on pro because pressing enter will eat 50% of my 5 hour window.

works the other way as well, i have my opencode.jsonc which declares what model an agent should use, and it points at .claude/agents/ those agents each have their anthropic based model instead, almost feel like this broke in the past week though for just cc, hard to tell as cc keeps changing and i dont wanna update and learn more claude based nonsense again, if i wasn't locked into a year of pro or whatever, I would 100% be done using them entirely.

just wondering when the overwhelming consensus among devs is just gonna be that companies should go horizontal instead of vertical. I feel 5.5 is 100% good enough for literally anything i could point it at, and its shortcomings are largely gonna be paired to not grasping wider context it can't really load into a context window to correct (not understanding when a user is gonna miss something that might be implied knowledge at that stage or similar issues).

So, at this stage of time I'm not even totally looking at lesser models to save costs or usage, im using lesser models because they fit the task more than fine and will nail it. Instead though, 6 months from now the model landscape will be totally different, costs will not have gotten better(for US companies), because their priorities are almost entirely on chasing capability of models.

So i hope you're right and the overall market is moving the direction you mention, but I think the US will continue this absurd race to... just being #1 regardless of how much it stops making sense.

fairly certain you are remembering the goofy article that was going around where a railway user allowed an agent to delete his db. iirc he questioned the agent after and the agent told him it should have read the file that told him not to do things, so just sounds like he deleted his db and blamed his tools.

the current state of that 20$ claude plan, despite twice this week them stating better usage. first for "double 5 hour usage", then for 50% overall more usage a week.

MAYBE the 50% overall is true, but the double usage during a 5 hour window i just dont see it at all. I've maxed 3 5 hour windows since this happened, 0% chance it was double as much as normal, i ate up about 4-5% of my weekly total each time(this was ~10% each time pre announcements). wish i could give token numbers but its obscured i just know it was around 120k 4.6 with some delegation to sonnet subagents.

So SURE its almost certainly more allotted weekly, but if those totals are consistent for 5 hour blocks, you gotta split your daily usage into at least 3 sessions with 5 hours between them to even hit that weekly limit. its unreal how much they have burned their good reputation in a 2 month stretch, i am positive its also being astroturfed with bots more than happy to advance the narrative.

the internet is annoying, these tools are overall cool, just wish anthropic would go back to being semi predictable.
