Take away: Don't follow advice of self proclaimed gurus. Listen to scientists, who spent decades studying the subject matter. Don't fall for short-term dietary tactics as a life-long health solution.

That is the thing. I feel like the build quality and design of the board is so good, but having no warranty or replacement parts in case something breaks is a deal-breaker.

I've been looking around on Craigslist for a few boards and they seem to still hold their value despite the announcement a month later.

According to the Governor: “We just passed the one million mark, in terms of the number of claims, just since March 13,” Newsom said.

As an athlete, I'm not surprised by these results. Most people are sedentary and step counting only goes so far to improve their health. Even in Italy, as shown in the article's graph, the decline has been 25%. If the recommended goal 10,000 steps per day then 7,500 is still a good number to hit during a pandemic.

I would be very surprised that the average number of steps across their userbase has uniformly decreased for all users.

For example we could imagine the scenario where some people were able to keep their habit and did not have a great decrease in step numbers, while some other sub-groups have become sedentary because of the confinement. This would show up as an increase in variance in the number of steps.

Stats are hard and it is very easy to draw a wrong conclusion (that sound right) from aggregated data.

I liked the original title of the story for what it is worth.

As Chris MacAskill wrote:

In 1995 the ebola virus had its second major outbreak, 19 years from its first, and I discovered a fascinating website about it called eBay. It turns out Pierre owned it and wrote the ebola information. The traffic it drew would help his new auction site get off the ground.

Disinfectants, toilet paper, and paper towels are out of stock, but, otherwise, things look normal for now...

The documentary hasn't been released yet. I was at the West Coast premiere of it in California Theatre in downtown San Jose last week. Maybe Netflix, Amazon or Hulu will get the rights for distribution soon until then I'll have to wait to watch it again.

I enjoy reading in this format since the story can be told over time and through separate posts. Each post is like a mini story of its own. Also it is nice to see a discussion referencing specific posts. It is different, but I like it.

Except in this particular case each post was barely a minute apart.
