Hiring Newbies to call the shots becoming a cost saving pillar that eroded work culture at Boeing is one of those things that indirectly contributed to the recent debacle.

Is a bean counter still heading Boeing? Technology companies really need to be run by technologists first, businessmen second. It's fine to have a COO handle the nitty-gritty of running the company, but the vision and culture need to be set by a technical person and should be very technology-focused in general.

Benchmarks aren't everything. Nvidia's Denver absolutely crushed everyone in benchmarks at the time. Real world performance was actually pretty bad.

Canonical (ubuntu) tried this.. it didn't get far for some reason. I wish it did.

Canonical didn't have the resources. Neither did Motorola.

But Samsung is doing this now with some moderate success.

This has been tried with other phones several times. An idea without a market - no one wants to plug in their phone to get a desktop computer.

I think the point being made here is why are both numbers not disclosed, and only one was?

I think both the time the bug existed and the relevant timeframe of known exploits should be part of a responsible security disclosure.

Omitting either one is a disservice to users.

Those AVX instructions are quite costly though.
