Do you think 1480 is a good score?

1480 was a good enough score, that a student with a strong application in other areas can get into any college. I don't consider it proof that I was a good student, but it's certainly not a negative signal that a lower score would be.

I do think I could have scored much better though, considering 1480 was my first try without much preparation.

I can't imagine it's that high. Are you under the impression that Google is a highly selective employer? Maybe ten years ago it was. There's a high volume of people for whom passing the Google interview is a complete triviality. This has been the case for 5+ years now.

Terry did attend university at a very young age. He got his PhD when he was 21.

If he sounds normal in talking about his generals, it's because his peers are some the best young mathematicians in the world (and about 4-5 years older) and his evaluators are some of the absolute best mathematicians in the world.

How on Earth did they strongarm anybody? Whatsapp didn't want to meet with any investors. Sequoia put in a lot of effort to be allowed to invest at all.

Dropbox has the most brilliant engineering team in the Valley.

But they've hired fairly weakly on the business side.

> Dropbox has the most brilliant engineering team in the Valley.

That's definitely been my impression having observed the company for years from outside and from interviewing there just a little while ago. Given their engineering talent, I can't imagine they'd lose the game entirely, but they might indeed struggle on the business side. I was really impressed with the sample of Dropboxers I saw and turning them down was a difficult decision.

After reading about all of the product's faults in these comments, I hope they don't have the most brilliant engineering team in the valley...

They even poached Guido Van Rossum(guy who invented Python) from google

Why don't to actually link to the original Quora answer where the gamasutra post was lifted from?

Just to be clear...the "Dave Baggett" who authored the Quora post seems to be the same "Dave Baggett" who is listed as the author of the Gamasutra post. Usually the phrase "lifted from" implies an act of plagiarism, but I think in this case, the two authors are one and the same.

As to why I didn't link to the Quora answer? Because not everyone on HN has a Quora account. And in the past, Quora has sometimes erected a login-wall for non-users trying to view a post. Gamasutra does not.
