I used to say S-Q-L in France but when I arrived in SF everybody was talking about "sequel" ... it took me some time to figure out what this damn sequel was. Now I use sequel in english and S-Q-L in french. I was thinking it was the english way to say it. This poll proves me it's wrong :-)

Similar in Germany, at least in my experience. I mostly hear it being called Ess Kuh Ell.
