Good drivers follow prevalent conventions, which is what makes them safer drivers.


Bad drivers don't follow any conventions. But, and this is what kills the idea, bad drivers also follow all conventions without thought.

As such, it is seen at both ends and provides little predictive power.


Bad drivers I have encountered are much more likely to follow the rules of the road to the letter. Good drivers will often break them based on the situation. The difference is situational awareness.


When I'm in the UK, I drive on the left side of the road.


Good drivers drive predictably and good engineers code predictably.
