It appears to be a major breakthrough in the China-US tech war.

Both showing capabilities in 5G radio chips (which used to be exclusively the domain of US firms I think). And making logic chips at high-end resolution. Probably DUV with double patterning.

The sanctions put huawei 3 steps backwards, but with the Mate 60 pro Huawei just did two steps forward. Maybe next year Chinese semi conductor industry will have neutralize US sanctions and instead of being decades behind they are now then 1~2 years behind ASML and TSMC..

I would be worried if were ASML and TSMC..

Long term yes.

Short term I would be more worried for Apple.

If Huawei can make enough of these it would probably affect upcoming iPhone 15 sales in China quite a bit.

I think in 2 or 3 years you will most like see a Huawei's M1 like reveal. Where they will reveal a Kirin based Matebook pro running HarmonyOS Next desktop variant.

Yeah Apple will have a fierce competition in China and the BRICS/SCO countries. I hope China can soon start internationalise some of their social media so there are more options then only western options. It will hopefully unleash some much needed competition in IT services.
