[flagged] Show HN: I built a social experiment to test your curiosity (thecuriositygame.com)

I had an idea for this concept for a while and decided to build a little website around it. It's kind of a silly idea but I'm really curious to see how it plays out.

If you're a particularly curious person, be warned.

By submitting a payment to the game, you get to see how many other people were curious enough to play. You will be ranked based on your payment amount, and get to discover some interesting insights about the game's dynamics.

Hope you like it

I paid $1, which ranked me at 12 out of 21 With 6830 visits that makes conversion rate of 0.31%.

Great job

This is actually pretty funny. I’m willing to pay exactly $0, but I am curious to see how much money you end up making.

Thanks - Only one way for you to find out ;)

Nice idea, hope you make some money! A quick comment, if I may… shouldn’t the rankings be made public? This way you would attract more people who would like to top the rankings and have their name/message/company visible. You’d also attract many spammers, but hey you’d have some profit out of it.

Thanks, I have thought about something like that but ultimately decided to keep public info to a minimum to maintain the mystery. Might change it depending on the response I get.

Good idea. I’m curious about it. But my curiosity about this isn’t worth anything to me. It just is.

That was the inspiration actually

This smells of scam and bullshit.

Why not make the money not real money?

You’re just playing with people for financial gain.

Where's the scam? The website explains exactly what you're gonna get.

How is that any different from "I am rich" type apps or any other app with In-app purchases, loot boxes, etc? Capitalism at its finest.
