Home solar in rural America: how much battery do you need in a winter storm? (electrek.co)

Couldn't help but notice this absolutely worthless article never mentions heat, which is really of utmost importance during a WINTER STORM. A fossil fuel backup furnace is an absolute requirement anywhere that gets snow and can be used in conjunction with a heat pump on normal days. Solar/battery powers the furnace while propane provides the heat source.

Not being able to make coffee, charge your phone or use Internet is a distant secondary to freezing to death or having pipes burst.

Mostly we have wood stoves.
