You left out "How can I help the project?
: I need the computing power to train models.". Seems reasonable that someone who has spare computing power available would offer that to expand the available models.
I recognize we've all been training to avoid phishing scams and getting taken advantage of, but sometimes a friendly offer is just that. This person is a software developer, if they don't have access to hardware now they will soon, all you are doing by helping is expediting the process.
A possible application which is not about completely faking identity, Deep Live Makeup / Deep Live Haircut / Deep Live Dress might be something people will pay money for.
There are even more ethical use cases, Say a disabled person(I am) on a creator platforms who wish to defeat the algorithms which suppress videos from the disabled or similarly those who wish to defeat racial bias.
In a fair world we wouldn't needing such hacks for equality, But we all know the reality.
Or say those with accessibility issues who cannot put the physical effort in creating videos. I've been tracking 'Deep Fake video generating SW for ethical usage'[1] on my problem validation platform.
For a second I was thinking YouTube was doing this. Just move out off tiktok.
YouTube's algorithm will probably treat you the same way every now and again for the general public, but maybe that's because the general public doesn't want to watch that type of content?
Your close subscribers and people with interest will still get your videos.
And if you're self conscious about your physical appearance, your can always become a VTuber or something like that.
YouTube will do it's own set of nasty things to creators, as we can see on an almost weekly basis on the first page here. Also we'll never know what kind of stuff it will do in years to come. So "move from platform X to platform Y" may be a decent tactical advice, but in a long run it is better to suppose that they are all the same.
Not dating myself, but from what I've heard this will only replace all those fake accounts with stolen pictures.
What's even worse is that if you ever lost a phone or camera with semi-nude pictures then people are probably scamming other people using your images and fake accounts on OF.
In a sort of odd way it's an interesting playing field leveler, attractive people are often given more leeway in life. Who's going to complain to HR if I turn up to work and I don't actually look like the lead man from a black and white film.
Yikes!
